News and Letters

Autumn Term

Wow, what a busy term we have had.  The children have really settled into nursey and come in each day with big smiles on their faces.  Before half term we had our fantastic colours topic.  We explored colour with our colour themed days and enjoyed investigating new colours through colour mixing.

Since half term we have been exploring our world and the children have enjoyed learning our stories ‘Dear Zoo’ and ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’.  Through our activities we have explored different places in our world including oozy mud, snow storms and forests.

We then were very busy in preparation for Christmas using our story ‘Dear Santa’.  We had a go at being Santa’s elves by wrapping presents and making decorations for the class tree.  We also made some special Christmas crafts to share with our families.

It has been such a busy term we have all earnt our Christmas break and we look forward to returning to our topic ‘…and beyond’  where we will look at places beyond our own planet.

Nursery update

We have been loving our ‘Glorious Growing’ topic.  We had a very special delivery of some tiny caterpillars and have been keeping an eye on these as they change.  We have been learning the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and used this to help us think about the changes that happen in the butterfly lifecycle.  We made our own caterpillar life cycles using pasta to represent the different stages.

We also read the story ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ and used these to help us think about how we can look after plants and help seeds grow.  We sorted different items into those that help us and those that would help seeds.  We then used these items to grow some cress heads.

For World Book Day we enjoyed a Beatrix Potter themed day.  We made Chamomile tea, went fishing with Jeremy Fisher and washed clothes with Mrs Tiggy Winkle.  The children’s costumes were amazing and we had a fantastic day.
