UKS2 Curriculum - From Sept' 2020

Summer 2nd 2021 News Update
WOW, WOW, WOW!! What an AMAZING Summer term we have had in UPKS2. We have enjoyed continuing our Africa topic - having read The White Giraffe in Year 6.
The children have enjoyed a huge array of exciting learning opportunities - we started the term by designing and making our own Chapatis. The children completed some market research, taste-tested some existing flavoured breads and created their own flavour combinations. Most excitingly, we got to make them and cook them over the fire in our Forest School Site. The children loved them.
We visited Knitershall Heath - to conduct our local River Study - we had a go at Pond dipping and studying the flow of the river there. It was most interesting.
On our Amazing Artist day, we studied the infamous Banksy! The children loved learning about his graffiti style. The children in UPKS2 spent time thinking about their own social issues to represent and designed their own. Do look at some of the examples in the photographs.
The children enjoyed Sports days - showing their perseverance, resilience and team-work and learnt about the Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai on Moral Day.
Each Year group went on a very exciting visit this half term. The Year 5 children focused on their team-building skills at "The Playground" where they enjoyed many muddy adventures (see the photograph!) whilst the Year 6 children enjoyed their packed schedule at Eaton Vale  - where they canoed, swam in the river, made doughnut twists around the campfire, made buggies, rafts and tried their hand at archery. Needless to say both these visits were GOLDEN MEMORIES for all the children.
Of course we say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 class of 2021. The children enjoyed a Pizza party and water fight, an awards ceremony and a wonderful virtual Leavers Assembly. We wish each and every child continued success as they move to High School.
We are already looking forward to the Autumn Term when we will be learning about Ancient Greece.
